Attachment:Dear WaterStoppers
Greetings from the Little Rock Marathon Committee. It is hard to believe that 2007 marks the fifth anniversary of the Little Rock Marathon. Some of you guys have been with us since the beginning and for that, you get a huge “Thank You!” The marathon is a month away and it is time for us to get everything confirmed. I have heard from most of you during the year, expressing your interest in hosting/manning a WaterStop again. If that has changed, please let me know as soon as possible. We have several new groups each year that show an interest, but we always like to give our “seasoned” folks the “right of first refusal,” As always there are a few new things in 2007.
* Minor race course changes –
(NOTE: Because of this- some WaterStop locations may have moved as well)
* Half Marathon Relay (2 person) replaces the 4-person marathon relay
(NOTE: Because of this change there will only be 1 relay exchange area instead of the 3 we have had in the past)
* We will have an early start (6:00 am) again for Walkers and those needing a little longer to complete the marathon, therefore WaterStops #1, #2, and #3 will need to be in place by 6:00 am as well.
Each member of your crew will receive a highly coveted Little Rock Marathon Water Crew long sleeved (yes, I PROMISE they are long-sleeved this year) T-Shirt and complimentary entrance into the "Post Race" party, at the River Market Pavilion. This year we are ordering T-Shirts specifically according to the size and number in your group, so I will need your group’s sizes by Monday, February 19th at the latest (don’t worry – I’ll send you follow up emails reminding you.)
Remember that you (or a representative from your group) are required to attend the WaterStop Captain's meeting on Wednesday, February 28, at 6:00 pm at the Robinson Center Exhibit Hall, (Level 1) Corner of Markham and Broadway Streets, to pick up your groups T-shirts, your WaterStop box and receive your final instructions.
You are our only contact with your group, so please make sure that everyone in your group signs up online. (This will be the only way to get their name on the list for the Post Race Party.) This year we have added a category online specifically for WaterStops to sign up. Please notify them that they will not receive an individual confirmation from me - even if they signed up online. You will be their contact. Go to www.littlerockmarathon.com. Click on Volunteers. Click in the body of the information on Volunteer Registration Form Online. Scroll all the way down to WaterStops. This is where they should sign up.
Should you have any questions, please visit the marathon website at www.littlerockmarathon.com or call/email Linda Sue Sanders at 920.9999 or suewho2@att.net.
Again, thank you for being a volunteer. It takes almost 2,000 volunteers and we simply couldn't do it without you. We look forward to working together to have a great event on March 4th
My best,
Linda Sue Sanders
